iBasso IT01 IEM, A Review
Although I’ve been traveling substantially less frequently as of late, I’m always sure to have at least one good pair of IEMs handy to use while I’m doing chores around the house or while I wait outside for one of my kids’ extracurriculars. Previous to this pair I was mostly using a pair NuForce EDC3, which simply put are entirely too bright, mostly mid-hollow and lacking vigor and oomph in the bass and sub-bass rage. With couple of long-haul trips on the schedule and having recently acquired the Radstone ES100 portable DAC/AMP, I went out to hunt for mid-range pair of IEMs that would be up to the task. After consultation with other audio enthusiasts and research on my end, I decided to take the chance on the iBasso IT01. Below are my impressions after month and a half of use, including four five-hour-plus flights. All rubrics below reviewed with the included memory foam tips and after-market balanced cable.
Audition stack: iPhone X[s], Tidal Hi-Fi, Radsone ES100
Comfort and ergonomics: in this mortal’s opinion this rubric makes or breaks an IEM — period. It’s irrelevant how great a pair of IEMs sound, if they aren’t comfortable. At first I had some trepidation in this regard since they seem visually substantial; however, in person they are not. They are definitely present, but they are not heavy or encumbering at all.
